Rutland Waters + Zara Skirt

Just like higher percentage of the UK nation, I’ve spent my last Sunday in the sunshine. My boy found Rutland Waters by going to Google maps and looking for big blue spots around the area where we live (he is clever like that ;) ).
With car full of supplies (disposable bbq, blanket, crisps, drinks etc) off we went to have a picnic. I don’t think I have to write about how nice it was. Next time we are hiring a boat and we will be plonking on it instead of grass.

I wore a nude asymmetric Zara skirt I purchased back in March. England had a nice weather faze and I thought this skirt would come in handy. But that faze passed and I didn’t have a chance to wear it until last Sunday.
It’s flowy, airy and pretty – I like it a lot. But the thing about it being asymmetric is that I wish it wasn’t. I’d prefer if it was shorter at the front and longer at the back but that side thing feels really weird. Maybe I’ll get used to it.

Also I think my heeled sandals would go a lot better with this skirt. They would give it more of a lift and elegance (does that even make sense?). But it was just more practical to wear flats that day. I will dress it up a bit more next time and see how it turns out :)

T-shirt – Random store in Poland
Skirt – Zara
Sandals – River Island about 3 years ago
Bag – Same as sandals
My posing – precious

Ps. I seriously need to remember to cut the tags out of my t-shirts!

On another note:

I’ve started The Hunger Games Catching Fire so I’m not behind when another movie comes out. I missed the first one and have to wait for the DVD now.

So what have you been up to during this gorgeous weekend?

Tickle my France-y + A cut Above

When I think of summer nails, glitter is probably the last thing I would consider. It’s probably because I am a simple creature and associate glitter with New Year’s Eve i.e. winter and bright colours with sunshine i.e. summer.

Don’t ask me why but I ditched my comfort zone and did the unthinkable. I painted my nails with glitter a couple of days ago.

I don’t regret it at all. Sunshine makes my nails sparkle so nicely!

I got lots of compliments on my nails while having this combination on. But I must add that I always get lots of compliments when using Essie A Cut Above, paired with no matter what other colour.

What do you guys think?

Glitter for summer: Yey or ney?

Concealer collection

How many concealers is too many concealers?

I can’t answer this question but I do like to have a choice when it comes to concealers. That’s not because I love makeup and like to have a little browse in vanity each morning. It’s because each concealer have a different staying power, tone or consistency.

I’d use heavy duty concealer when I’ve got a long day ahead of me or I’d use concealer with dry formulation if my skin feels oily and so on and so on.
No matter what your concealer formula preference is, always remember to stick to certain colour tone coordination. That is using pinky toned concealer to counteract purple (under eye area) and yellow toned concealer for counteract redness (spots, broken capillaries etc.).
I would also recommend using something a bit more moisturizing under the eyes since that’s where we get crow’s feet and we don’t want to help the skin get dry there.

Here are my concealers:

1) Benefit Stick it – it’s very creamy and has a good coverage. Since its yellow toned I use it on spots and around my nose area. I didn’t find it drying and it stays on pretty well throughout the day.

2) Catrice Re-Touch Light Reflecting
– I picked this up in light pinky shade to use it under my eyes. It’s quite thick but easy to blend and it quickly sets into the skin. I’d like to add that I don’t really have dark under eye circles (just very slight discolouration) so I use concealer under my eyes more for highlighting purposes. This one is great for doing just that.

3) Mac Studio Finish
– great coverage but I find this to dry. I can’t apply it around my nose because my skin tends to get dry around there and this concealer increases the dryness. Perhaps would work better for very oily skin types.

4) Soap&Glory Kick Ass
– this one has both pink and yellow toned concealers and translucent powder to set them which is always a bonus. Pink one can be a bit blotchy and doesn’t set as well as the yellow one but overall it’s a good product. I reviewed it here if you’re like to know more about it.

5) Mac Select Cover-up
– this is more of a corrector that a concealer so super heavy duty product. Again I picked this up in pinky shade to use under my eyes but I don’t really need that much coverage. If you suffer with dark under eye circles then you should definitely try this! It blends very well and also adds a bit of highlight which is awesome. Stays on very well throughout the day.

6) Garnier Roll-On
– not much coverage here. I use this on days when I don’t want to wear full face of makeup but need a fresher looking version of myself. Also works great as an added highlight under the eyes on top of another concealer.

I hope this was somewhat helpful my lovelies. Let me know what concealers are worth trying and if you’ve got any rules you always go by when it comes to using a concealer.

I’ve heard Collection 2000 concealer is meant to be awesome. Need to try that next!

Sunday Share 20.05.12

I feel like I haven’t done one of these posts for ages! I have been busy and didn’t have much time to post on my own blog or read others :( But I had a good catch up yesterday and picked some awesome posts for you.

1) Discovering old Favourites - I’ve been cutting down my spending so shopping my own stash is my thing nowadays!

2) Baby bunny – I looooooove bunnies! Not to mention baby bunnies!

3) Mavala Decicious Collection – pastel nails are super cute!

4) Essie Van D’go  - pinky nude is my favourite nail colour and this one looks super pretty. Plus I need to try the whole glitter-on-the-ring-finger thing.

5) Birchbox DIY – I so need to pimp my sample boxes! Mine are black and boring!

Hope you enjoyed it my beauties!

Brown and Navy for Work

Last week I decided that I won’t pay attention to the crappy weather (here I am moaning about the weather again!) anymore and wear all of my spring clothes.

I kept my promise and wore pastels, florals and brights every day this week! Not all at once off course…
People at work were like:
-you look very summery
-it’s so cold outside and you’re wearing a floral dress?
-very spring like outfit you're wearing and it's raining outside
My responses were:
-well it is May and theoretically it's spring
-heating is still on so why not?
-it's not raining inside
-bugger off already!

Here is what I wore to work today which is bit of a toned down version of my “controversial” springy outfits.

Polka dot top was purchased from ebay for something silly like £4. It originally comes from Top Shop. It was listed as used item but looked brand new when it arrived. It buttons up at the back which I think is really unique and cool! It took me some time to figure out how to put it on since it is physically impossible to button it all up at the back. It is quite short and has a gap at the back so to avoid flashing at work I wore nude vest top underneath it .

Trousers – Zara
Blazer – H&M
Shoes – H&M
Bag – H&M (I’m sure you’re sick of seeing this bag in every outfit post but in my defence, I did say it will go with everything I’ve got in my wardrobe when I bought it)

On a different note, I watched The Walking Dead and I was literally shitting my pants! Every second of it I thought a zombie is going to jump out randomly and attack someone. Off course I had zombie nightmares that night. Think I must’ve soften up over the years cause I used to watch lots of horror movies and don’t remember having troubles with sleep...

Have an awesome Friday guys!

ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer Review

I’ve had this primer for quite some time now but it’s been sitting in my draw unused. I did use it few times just after I’ve purchased it but sadly it broke me out. I am certain this was definitely reason of my breakout because as soon as I stopped using it my skin cleared.

Last week I’ve decided to give it another go. Our skin changes all the time and sometimes it’s worth to try the same product again after a while if it didn’t work the first time.

So here are my thoughts on it:

What it claims to do: Developed to combat excess oil, flaky dryness, enlarged pores and fine lines to result in a natural and youthful looking radiance. This clear multipurpose skin primer prepares the skin so makeup goes on evenly for a lasting finish.

Formula: Clear, silky liquid on a thicker side.

How to use it: Apply to clean skin prior to makeup application. Use a small amount and blend evenly over the face for a smooth and flawless base.

My experience: Like I mentioned before this primer broke me out the first few times I’ve used it. I came back to using it after few months and I haven’t noticed any breakouts. I’ve been using it every morning for the past week. I am not sure why but some days this primer works great and some days it doesn’t do anything. I am guessing this is due to the conditions I am at (office, outdoors, home etc). I think this being a primer it should work in any situation. After a work day, my makeup does look little bit better and there are no patches of built up melted foundation. But I feel that fair bit of the product disappeared as it normally does.

 Price: £6.00

Where to buy: http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk

Final score:
4/10 Overall I’d say it helps foundation to stay on a little bit longer and it makes the process of disappearing makeup a bit better looking. But shine on my T-zone comes through after about 2 hours which is how it normally does. It might just not work with my skin but to me using it is kinda pointless.

Hope this was helpful! Have any of you tried this product?

NOTD Inglot Salmon

It’s a shame Inglot only use numbers on their polishes and don’t give them cute, funny names. It makes it a bit more difficult when trying to come up with a post title - Inglot 972 doesn’t really sound appealing.

Nonetheless this colour is gorgeous and it’s one of my favorite spring and summer shades. I am ignoring the fact that spring is not happening in Britain and starting to wear my brights and pastels in the rain.

What do you think of this colour?

On the different note, I had to cut all of my nails short because they started to split and break. It feels sooo weird to type with my actual fingertips and not hear the nail click on the keyboard lol

Random Favorites – Bracelets, Lipsticks and My Nephew!

First things first…

Big apologies for not being here for so long! Holiday, work and general life stuff got in the way and I couldn’t find the time to blog. Thank you for those of you who are still with me x

I did miss blogging very much and have a few posts planned so I will hopefully make up for the absence. I decided to ease myself back into blogging by posting my random favorites.

Hope you enjoy!

1) Holiday – it was so great to see my friends and family in Poland. The weather was gorgeous and I took the full advantage of it by going for walks around the lakes, eating ice cream and catching up with everyone. I love this silly picture of me and my nephew Michael. He will be 3 this month and he's at the stage when he asks and says the funniest things. He didn’t want to have a picture taken with me so I tricked him saying I’ve got something to show him by pointing at the camera and snapped a quick photo of us when he was still baffled about the whole situation ha ha

2) Layering bracelets
– I used to was really worried about mixing metals. Like when I had gold earrings everything else had to be gold… But it was restricting me in what I could wear so I got over myself and I don’t care anymore! I love different textures, colors and sizes of bracelets layered together now.

3) Zumba
– couple of my readers recommended going to a Zumba class after reading my Going Natural and Healthy post. I decided to give it a go and I am so pleased that I did! One hour of intense dancing is so much more enjoyable than a cross trainer workout. Time flies by super quick and I think calories burn just as fast ;)

4) Catrice Ultimate Colour lipstics
– I picked another nude lipstick from this brand when I was in Poland and now I regret I didn’t get more! These are super creamy and unlike many other lipsticks I’ve tried they don’t dry my lips out. I have two nude colors Be Natural and The Nuder The Better. Oh! Did I mention they’re super affordable? I believe I paid somewhere around £3 each.

5) The Hunger Games book
– I bet many people are sick of hearing about The Hunger Games but just like most of the world I loved the first book and will be reading the second soon. I really wanted to go see the movie when I finish the book but they don’t play it at my cinema anymore. I will just have to wait for a DVD.

So how have you all been? I am guessing a little bit depressed because of the weather (British peeps)? Maybe if we all put our minds to it and beg for sunshine, it will eventually show its face?
