What I used today

I really wanted to post something today but had no idea what to write about. I was just about to give into ‘no inspiration’ excuse when I thought of this post. I think this could be my random little series where I post about a few products (makeup, skincare, perfume etc) and perhaps other bits like accessories I used on a particular day. Nothing scheduled thou as you know I’m not good at sticking to those.

Let me know if you like the idea :)

1) Avon Far Away Exotic EDP- this is the usual fresh scent I normally tend to go for. Far Away Exotic is quite sweet, heavy and fruity. I don’t know why but something draws me into this scent. When I smell this I think of Morocco with colourful streets, hot sweaty nights and lots of noise. It’s probably because it’s marketed as an Eastern scent but I like to think I came up with it all by myself ;)

2) Clinique Superfit Makeup
– there isn’t much I can say about this foundation because it didn’t wow me nor disappoint me. It’s a light water based formula, medium coverage, good staying power. Rather than make me say ‘wow my skin looks awesome’ after applying, I say ‘meah, I look alright’.

3) Sleek Suede Blush – I adore this nude colour. It acts not only like a blush but also a contour on my face. Gives nice warmth to the face and looks very natural. When I don’t know what blush would go with my eye makeup I use this and it always works.

4) Elf quad Day 2 Night
– good quality shadows for the price. Not chalky, well pigmented, nicely blending, what else would we want? Purple one is a bit stubborn and needs bit more of a ‘pack it on the brush’ action but other than that it’s a nice little thing.

5) Catrice Ultimate Colour Be Natural! – nude on a peachy side here. None of the ghost lips problems with this little guy.

6) Clinique High Impact Mascara
- this is a second time purchase. I love it because it’s not clumpy, not vet, separates the lashes very well and keeps them soft throughout the day.

January Carmine and February FeelUnique beauty boxes + Blog Anniversary (sort of)

If you’re not sure what a beauty box is click here for a quick explanation.

Is it me or is Carmine running a little bit behind? Anyhoo, here’s what’s inside:

*Balance Me Radiance Face Oil – I need some extra hydration at the moment so this came in handy
*Eldora D135 eyelashes – not really my thing with the rhinestones but I might use them for a night out sometime
*Korres Wilde Rose moisturizer – to be honest I don’t think my skin is very happy with me changing a moisturizer every month (because of new samples in the beauty boxes). I’m gonna put that one to the side for now.
*WestLab Bath Salts – I don’t remember the last time I had a bath! I think it’s time to catch up on that one :)
*Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Old Gold – me like-y! It’s like a dirty gold/moldy green colour – sounds gross I know but I love this type of shades :D

Feel Unique box is all about priming the skin before the big date because it’s the month of loooooove. Every month should be a month of love if you ask me, but hey ho! Yes, I am one of the people that re not so big on Valentine’s Day. Although it is nice to get a card (such a hypocrite, me) :D

*Nuxe Multi Usage Dry Oil – I am not sure I get this – is it oil or is it not? How oil can be dry and would you want to apply something dry on yourself?
*Decleor Natural Exfoliating Cream –always up for trying deeply cleansing products
*Philip Kingsley Elasticizer – I like the sound of intensive super-moisturizing treatment for all hair types
*Leighton Denny Nail Polish in Diamond Ivory – nude nail polish is welcome at any time
*Jean Paul Gaultier KokoRico – meah… I never use my perfume samples for some reason
*Elemis Exotic Lime and Ginger Body Wash – I have heard so many good things about Elemis. Looking forward to trying this.

Beauty Box Talk:

So this is my last beauty box post for the time being. I am unsubscribing from them for now.

The idea of beauty boxes is really awesome and I enjoyed them so much for the past few months. I loved having that surprise when opening them and trying products I would normally never think of buying or couldn’t afford. But I have accumulated so much stuff now that I cannot possibly use up with all the new bits arriving each month. Another thing is that I need to focus on saving money at the moment so I’d rather spend that £23 on something I really want or need.
I might get tempted again at some point in the future and subscribe again but for now – bye bye beauty boxes.

My BeautyFul World’s 1st Birthday:

I started blogging in February 2011. My blog then was called Sylwia’s Foundations and I didn’t have enough confidence/energy/commitment to blog regularly. I have pulled my act together and started blogging properly at the end of November last year. I changed the name of my glog to My BeautyFul World and I am trying to improve it each time I post since then. Since I decided it should be my own relaxed approach and I stopped thinking it's not good enough, it became really enjoyable to me. I can only hope it is enjoyable to you – my lovely readers.

Oh! But that’s not what I was going to write about. I really consider my blog 2 ½ months old because that’s when I really got into it. I have left the old content for me to see how much it changed. So basically my point is… should I treat it as its Birthday or not really? I am not sure.
While I’m at the blogging topic I wanted to ask you guys something. Is my writing fairly ok? I mean, is there a lot of typos or sentences that don’t make sense? English is my second language and I am still learning to write/speak and I am quite conscious of it.

UH OH UH OH OH OH!!!! I forgot about THE most important thing! I am going hairdressers tomorrow!!! Yeeeeeey :) :) :) Insert ---> 'happy jump'

Hope your Monday isn’t too bad and melting snow isn't too much of a pain!

Snow Day

I am probably the only person in the whole of England that’s not surprised by the snow. After all it is winter and it was snowing every year for the last few years. Why is everyone so shocked?
Also why is everyone panicking? I mean trains aren’t running, taxis are not taking any bookings, people say they're snowed in. It has been one day and it’s already melting. I wish people would stop panicking because it is really not that bad. At least not yet!

Saying all that and I did kinda join in. As advised stayed at home and had a snow day. I decided it’s going to be mostly lazy day with few bits thrown in. So this is what I did today:

1) Major hydration. I’ve applied a tone of body butter on myself and my body soaked it all up within seconds! It really was thirsty :) Sudocrem went on eczema patch on my arm. I really panicked when noticed it! Never ever had it before! Hope it will leave me alone.
I treated my face to a hydrating face mask and some deeply hydrating moisturizer :)

2) I had some fun in the garden… Meet Jerry! He was always little bit of an outsider due to his floppy celery nose.

3) I played Angry Birds :D Finished second level :D

4) Depoted some eyeshadows. More details about it soon!

5) Organized and labeled my beauty boxes. They turned out to be very handy. My nail polish organization sounds like separating the laundry :)

Sorry about the quality of this. My camera was going flash craaazy

*Eyelashes
*Big smaples
*Nail Polish - brights, darks, glitter
*Nail Polish - reds, purples, nudes

*Small samples
*Bits :) (back to mac, some muslin cloths etc)

6) Finished “Look at me” book. Ok, so I didn’t finished it yet but will get onto that after I publish this post :D

What did you guys do on a snow day? Anything fun? I hope none of you were stuck anywhere!

Weleda Pomegranate Creamy Body Wash

I received Weleda Pomegranate Body Wash in my December Carmine box. I have heard a few good things about this brand. Weleda makes all natural, no synthetic anything products for your face, body, hair and teeth. Products are categorized by plant and each of the categories is designed to help with a different skin problem.
Pomegranate seed oil is considered excellent for dry, ageing and stressed skin. Its strong antioxidant properties promote the renewal of cells and regeneration of skin.

What is claims to do:
Invigorates with cleansing moisture and nutrient-loaded organic pomegranate seed oil to renew nurtured skin that is soft to the touch. Stimulates senses and brings balance to the body and soul.

Formula: Thick and creamy consistency. Little goes a long way, easily lathers into a thick and soft foam. Strong but not overwhelming scent of pomegranate.

How to use it:
It works best with loofah. I tried it with my rubber massaging glove and it does not want to lather much.

My experience: This product is awesome for the winter. It is a pure pleasure to use because of its lovely scent and thick, soft foam it creates. My skin felt soft and smooth after using it. I didn't experience any dryness nor itching during the day. I have put it to the ultimate test and didn't apply any body lotion after having a shower for couple of days. Honestly I can say that my skin did not notice any difference. I'm sure it would make an impact if I carried on not using moisturizer. But for those mornings when there isn't enough time I can skip the moisturizer and be sure I won't itch all day.

Price: £8.95  200ml

Where to buy:
feelunique.com, weleda.co.uk

Final score: 9/10 Weleda Body Wash delivers everything that it promises. I consider this one of the best body creams I've ever used. From squeezing it from the tube to the smoothness of my skin after using it. I have taken one point away for the price. Although it is an amazing product I think it's a bit much for a shower cream. I seriously consider checking out other products from Weleda's range.

Camine November Beauty Box

I received my Sample Beauty Box little late this month. This is due to Carmine trying to personalize it. I am glad they did. One of the items is a brow pencil and I have been asked too choose a shade. It's a great idea as I wouldn't be very happy if I received a dark pencil (I'm a blond).
If you're not sure what Carmine is please check out my post on October box here.
So here's what's inside:
*Neon Luxury Body Lotion 50ml
*Lulu's Time Bomb Flashback Night cream 15ml
*New Cid I-pout Lipstick (full size)
*Dainty Doll Eyeliner Pencil (full size)
*Cosmetics a la Carte Brow Inc

Same as previously I will put those to a good test and review them all for you.

FratBoy Shadow/Blush and Daniel Sandler Eye Delight review - October Carmine box

It time to review make up items from October Carmine beauty box.

The Balm FratBoy Shadow/Blush:
Let my start with packaging. Adorably vintage looking and very practical! Easy to open and close with a magnet with a  mirror inside. Great to travel with as it's made out of cardboard so there's no worry that it will break.
As for product itself I love it! It's a dirty peachy/pink colour. It can be used as a blush or an eyeshadow. Althou I'm not really a pink eyeshadow person I tried it out and it actually looks nice! It's well pigmented and blends easily. The same thing when using it as a blusher. Creamy texture and easy to control when appling onto the cheeks. I think this colour would suit every skin tone out there.

Daniel Sandler Eye Delight Peach:
If I was going to describe this is one word it would be Shimmery Shimmer. Ok, that's two words but one Shimmer doesn't emphasise enough how shimmery this is. I didn't think I would ever need this much sparkle on my eyelids.
I did try it few times and found a perfect purpose for it even for a day time!
First I applied it on my entire lid and it was to light, too shiny and too much. Then I tried it as a cheek highlight and again too much sparkle. Finally I used it as a inner eye highlight and Bingo! Looks soo pretty. It opens my eyes and gives my eye make up that bit of extra something. I even used it in my inner corner without putting any eyeshadow on my lids and it instantly made me look awake and brightened  my face.
One thing to remember is to apply it with a light hand. Otherwise you will end up with way too much product and your face will look like it went to Shimmer Town.

I wouldn't go all the way pink normally but overall it doesn't look bad at all!

Hope you enjoyed!

Caudalie Sorbet-Creme - October Carmine box

Hiya!

Here is another review of a product from Carmine beauty box. This time it's Caudalie Face Sorbet-Cream for dehydrated skin.

At first I wasn't even sure if I will be able to use this stuff because my skin is normal/combination. I don't really need extra hydration especially during the day when my face becomes greasy looking after about 8 hours. I did give it a go anyway and was pleasantly surprised.
Packaging states that it's suitable for day and night use and formulated for sensitive skin. It doesn't contain parabens which is a bonus. I have been using it as a day cream only, simply because I do have Lirene cream in my Project 10 pan to finish off too, so that was going on my face at night.
Like I mentioned before I was little bit afraid it will make my skin greasy. But it didn't! Formula is really light,  it hydrated my skin well and kept sebum at bay durring the whole day. It absorbs pretty fast and creates nice base for make up.
Most surprising thing was that some of my "after spot" scars have faded a bit after using this cream for about 2 weeks. I don't think manufacturer mantiones anything about getting rid of scars but that's what's happened to me. Perhaps it just hydrates the skin so well that the scars become less visible? I'm not sure.

Scent it's mild and quite pleasant.

There is only one thing I'm curious about. If it was so good for my combination skin, will it be moisturizing enough for dry skin that it was designed for? I suppose you just have to try it and see for yourself. That is why I love beauty sample boxes! Because you can try those high end products without spending a fortune and decide if the product is worth buying.

Oh, and my 10ml sample lasted for one full month. Full size is £17 for 40ml so you're looking at 4 months of use.

Balance Me Hand Cream review - October Carmine box

Hi everybody!

I have been using products from my Carmine October beauty box for about a month now so I think it's time for a review. I will share my thoughts on the products in seperate posts so watch this space. Only item I am not entirely sure about is Trind Nail Repair. I am going to use it for a little longer before doing a review.

Ok, so first is Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream. There is not much I can say about it as I don't expect a lot from a hand cream other than moisturizing my hands :)
A massive plus for being nearly 100% natural, not tested on animals and created in the UK.
Packaging says "...seriously rich, our cream has been formulated to leave even the driest hands smooth and soft to touch." and I agree with it all. It instantly gives relief to my dry hands and despite it's thick consitency it absorbs quickly without leaving greasy film on the skin. Thanks to it's thickness a little goes a long way. There is only one thing I don't like about it and that's scent. I don't mind lavender but I can't say I'm a big fan of it. This cream wouldn't bother me if it wasn't so strong. I applied it just before going to bed at night and unfortunately it gave me headache and I couldn't fall asleep!
For that reason I can't use it as a overnight treatment :( So I took it to work and keep it in my desk draw.

Overall it's a great hand cream. I do recommend it if you love lavender but if not I would skip it. As for me after I use up this sample I won't buy a full size one simply because of that scent.

Hope this was helpful!

Carmine box October 2011

I received my first Carmine sample box on Thursday and I can't even tell you how excited I was to open it. It was like Christmas! I fell in love with the idea of sample boxes and decided to subscribe to feelunique.com box too. Unfortunately they had a massive demand and my first box will arrive in December :( But back to the Carmine box.

What's a Carmine box?
5 hand-picked products delivered each month, from make-up to skincare to fragrance. Deluxe product miniatures (you know, the generous size) in seductive packaging.
£10 per month + £2.75 p&p with cancel anytime subscription. All boxes are delivered by the 10th of each month.
For who?
For girls who love to discover and try out new brands and products. If you like to have a total control over what you buy and have all time favourite products which you hardly ever change then this isn't for you.

First of all I really like stylish black cardboard box. It looks nice and it's very well made and will definately be great for storage. I already have lots of ideas on what I'm going to store in them (my crafting stuff, nail varnishes, back up products etc).
Along with the products there was a lovely card with product description and 2 discount vouchers for full size products. To my surprise I received 3 full size products which I think is incredible. I will be trying all of these out soon and will let you guys know what I think. I will try to combine testing those out as well as carrying on Project 10 Pan. So bear with me on that one!

Also on the carmine.co.uk website there is more info and tips about the products plus possibility of purchaising full size items.

My box content:
*Balance me super moisturizing hand cream 30ml
*Caudalie Sorbet Face Cream 10ml
*Trind nail repair 9ml (full size!)
*The Balm Frat boy blusher 8.5g (full size!)
*Daniel Sandler Eye Delight in Peach (full size!)

Do any of you like the idea of beauty sample boxes?
