Primark transitional dress

I do love Primark! That shop is crazy. Sometimes I am just shocked by the prices there. I was recently lured into a Primark in Torquay when saw new Autumn pieces. I got a lovely nude blouse for £4! I just could not believe it. Next thing was this lovely pattern dress for £8. I thought it's going to be perfect for the summer/autumn/winter transition. I can still wear it with bare legs and sandals while warm. Then I can just keep adding... cardi... boots.... tights... and so on :) well... not much left to add beside a jacket... but you get the idea.

There is a little problem though. It's a bit tight in the chest area. These are the moments where I wish my boobs were smaller. The material does not have any give or stretch. It fits fine everywhere else but my chest. They had size 12 but zipper was broken so I was stuck with 10 and obviously had to have it there and then.
So I decided not to breathe while wearing it and it all turned out good lol But seriously now, it's not that bad but I wish Primark would sort out their sizing. It always runs a bit small. Every other shop I am dead on size 10. With Primark thou... it sometimes is 10, sometimes 12 and sometimes nothing cause 10 is too small and 12 too big ha ha
Anyone else has that problem or am I just unsizable?

Neon Orange Drop Hem Dress

I got this dress back in April when visiting my family in Poland from shop called Re-reserved (anyone heard of it?). I really wanted a drop hem dress at the time and loved the simplicity of this one.

I wasn’t too convinced about the colour at first but only this or black were an option in stock.I didn’t want black for summer. Hoping it will magically change its colour to beautiful coral I took the orange one to try on.
How surprised I was when saw myself in the mirror. It goes so well with my skin tone! It makes my skin look healthy and not as pale as it is (I was gonna say ‘makes me look tanned’ but let’s face it – I never look tanned. Even when I am tanned it just looks like my natural not pale skin :D). Plus it is not extremely bright neon shade... it’s more like pastel neon (ha ha) or it could be gray lining that tones it down a notch.

Skinny gold belt that came with the dress grew on me too and together with nude sandals it all looks simple yet chic.

Summery OOTD

I cannot believe we had a summer day today! Let’s hope warmth and sunshine will stay with us for longer.

Due to the happiness of seeing the sunshine I reached for my flowery pastel top and sandals. Plus shorts made an appearance! For that reason I had to shave top part of my legs and I don’t remember the last time I had to do that ha ha ha

I obviously found gravel very interesting there…

I thought if stand on my tip toes people will think I’m taller… no… I just look weird.

And I never Listen to anyone

So I wanted to be one of the cool kids and have a title made out of song lyrics.
If I was going to call it something else it would probably be Obsessed With H&M…

Yes, everything apart from the t-shirt here is from H&M.Oh, and the belt is from primark :)

Same old bag, same old flats, same old nude blazer … Shorts and earrings are old too (last years).

Nonetheless I love this smart/casual look. I feel very comfortable in this kind of outfit and think it’s very me. Makes me feel pulled together but not overdressed.

In some other news I got convinced to read Shades Of Gary. I don’t like doing what everybody else is doing but couldn’t stand being out of the loop for any longer. Will let you know what I think but my friend wants to have a debate with me when we both finish it and recons I will totally be con. Cause you know, I’m sarcastic, skeptic and pessimistic for the most times. Plus I tend to disagree just because everyone else agrees…

I’m on home holiday this week and it’s turning out to be better than I expected. I’m catching up on reading, watching tv shows, meeting friends and most of all just chillin which I haven’t done for a while.

Summer Smart in White Shirt and Coral Skirt

I’ve recently noticed lack of some basic clothing items in my wardrobe and I’ve been gradually trying to fill in the gap.

One of the items was surprisingly hard to find. Talking about a classic white tailored shirt. I had a few requirements and after a long search I found a piece that delivered them all and more:

1) White
2) Tailored
3) Long enough to tuck into trousers/skirts
4) At least 95% cotton
5) Long sleeve that can be folded up
6) Fun collar

Shirt is from asos.com and I think £25 is not bad considering the quality (very good by the way) and the fact it’s a timeless classic item out of which I will get a lot of wear.

The skirt is from H&M Conscious Collection just like the blazer I got last month. Serves a good cause and it’s gorgeous! Fabric is very soft and lace looks very nice. It’s more coral than pink shade and it brightens up that smart office outfit. It comes in a nude colour too but I found it little bit dull looking. Lace design was lost on the skirt because the lining was the same colour. Whereas coral lace and nude lining complement each other perfectly.

Rutland Waters + Zara Skirt

Just like higher percentage of the UK nation, I’ve spent my last Sunday in the sunshine. My boy found Rutland Waters by going to Google maps and looking for big blue spots around the area where we live (he is clever like that ;) ).
With car full of supplies (disposable bbq, blanket, crisps, drinks etc) off we went to have a picnic. I don’t think I have to write about how nice it was. Next time we are hiring a boat and we will be plonking on it instead of grass.

I wore a nude asymmetric Zara skirt I purchased back in March. England had a nice weather faze and I thought this skirt would come in handy. But that faze passed and I didn’t have a chance to wear it until last Sunday.
It’s flowy, airy and pretty – I like it a lot. But the thing about it being asymmetric is that I wish it wasn’t. I’d prefer if it was shorter at the front and longer at the back but that side thing feels really weird. Maybe I’ll get used to it.

Also I think my heeled sandals would go a lot better with this skirt. They would give it more of a lift and elegance (does that even make sense?). But it was just more practical to wear flats that day. I will dress it up a bit more next time and see how it turns out :)

Brown and Navy for Work

Last week I decided that I won’t pay attention to the crappy weather (here I am moaning about the weather again!) anymore and wear all of my spring clothes.

I kept my promise and wore pastels, florals and brights every day this week! Not all at once off course…
People at work were like:
-you look very summery
-it’s so cold outside and you’re wearing a floral dress?
-very spring like outfit you're wearing and it's raining outside
My responses were:
-well it is May and theoretically it's spring
-heating is still on so why not?
-it's not raining inside
-bugger off already!

Here is what I wore to work today which is bit of a toned down version of my “controversial” springy outfits.

Polka dot top was purchased from ebay for something silly like £4. It originally comes from Top Shop. It was listed as used item but looked brand new when it arrived. It buttons up at the back which I think is really unique and cool! It took me some time to figure out how to put it on since it is physically impossible to button it all up at the back. It is quite short and has a gap at the back so to avoid flashing at work I wore nude vest top underneath it .

Bag – H&M (I’m sure you’re sick of seeing this bag in every outfit post but in my defence, I did say it will go with everything I’ve got in my wardrobe when I bought it)

On a different note, I watched The Walking Dead and I was literally shitting my pants! Every second of it I thought a zombie is going to jump out randomly and attack someone. Off course I had zombie nightmares that night. Think I must’ve soften up over the years cause I used to watch lots of horror movies and don’t remember having troubles with sleep...

Mint Trousers

I really wanted lilac ones but could not find any anywhere!

I settled for mint.

I bought this pair in H&M for about £16 so I would say it was a bargain. The fabric is really soft and they are a very good fit. There is only one thing I worry about. That is them becoming saggy in the bottom area. I have seen quite a few girls with trousers similar to this pair hanging on the bum. I’ve worn them a few times now and everything seems to be in place but we will see what they’re like after the first wash.

This outfit is super simple because it’s full on summer here and I wasn’t prepared for it clothing wise. So I’ve been wearing simple cotton t-shirts and my light colored clothes i.e. mint trousers.

I have couple more days here and I’m coming back to rainy England. This makes me a bit sad but I do miss my boy and Scratchy the cat!

I’ve finally finished “Look at me” by Jennifer Egan. It took me forever to read it and I regret ever starting. If you’d like to see my goodreads review click here. Just like every other person on the planet at the moment I am reading The Hunger Games and I have to say I am really enjoying it so far.

H&M Conscious Collection Nude Blazer

I have been looking for it for about a month now and finally found it.

The perfect nude blazer.

It comes from H&M Conscious collection and I bought it in Poland where I am at the moment. I haven’t seen it in England but I would guess the same collection should hit the English stores at some point too.

This blazer is perfect for me because it’s tailored, not too pink (althou it does look very pinky in the pictures) and is made out of structured, shell like fabric.

Seeing my family and friends is great and I’m having lovely time. It’s still quite chilly here but sun is shining and that’s good enough for me.

Mints and Lilacs

Thankfully weather predictions were totally wrong this weekend and it didn’t snow or rain. It was sunny and bright but temperature definitely went down a few degrees and the chill was in the air.

I thought this kind of weather is perfect for my new pastel clothes. If you can’t tell already I became obsessed with pastels, especially mint and lilac so I was dying to wear my new wardrobe additions out.

I found this scarf on Asos.com and instantly saw it going with lots of my clothes this season. It has a multicolored psychedelic flower pattern. At first I was a bit disappointed that mint shade is a more of darker and brighter version of my clutch but I realized that it actually is a good thing. Because pastels can be a bit blunt this adds that famous ‘pop of color’.

Blazer is from H&M and it’s a boyfriend relaxed style. It only has a lining in the sleeves which makes it perfect for the chilly evenings in the coming seasons as it’s not too thick. I think it will look great with summer dresses or shorts and tee.

Now onto my favorite bit … The clutch! I don’t really think there is much to say about this. To me this is gorgeous! Color, style and size… I just love it so much! I was a bit shocked at myself that I paid £25 for it but I think handbags and shoes are my weakness and I just can’t help myself!

I love how this Barry M Pale Purple nail polish looks against the mint green.

This blazer had a horrible black button which was too much of a contrast against the light cream fabric. I removed it and sawed this mint one on instead :)

First Day of Spring and First Day without a Jacket

Weather lived up to its expectations yesterday and surprisingly sunshine is still brightening our days today.

This was a big day for me – it was warm enough to go outside without a jacket (lol) I am full of hopes that it will stay so nice outside all the time.

For my casual day I wore Primark blouse which really is cream colour but always looks white in the pictures. It’s very sheer so I have to wear a vest top underneath it. My flats are from H&M and I bought them online with a promotional code for about £5 and had a free delivery with it too so a total bargain. Only thing that worries me with them is the soles. I walk quite heavily and if soles are too thin which happens a lot with cheap flats then my heels hurt a lot! We shall wait and see how they’re performing after a few outings.

For my eyes I applied Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow from Mac all over my lid. This is one of these dual toned colours which look different depending on how you look at it. It created olive tone on my lids and transformed itself into brown shade in the crease. I smudged Revlon Sueded Brown pencil on the top lash line and added 124 lashes by Ardelle. Super quick and easy.

Modern 60’s?

Asos is a bit of a hit and miss for me. Everything looks great on the website but often clothes don't fit right. I suppose it all looks great on a size 6 model.

When I find something great then it really is great.

I am not a fan of bright colours but couldn’t resist this dress. The fac had something to do with it too.
Fabric is soft to touch and feels good quality.

I think this dress could easily be day or night time outfit depending on accessories. I am still in a process of finding my style but this is definitely my thing - simple, girly and elegant.

Please ignore random disgusting wet bit of newspaper in my garden :/

I have scheduled this post for Saturday so it is probably Saturday when you read it lol. It is Wednesday when I write it and it has been rain-sun-rain-sun all day long. I have motivated myself to go running so it better stay dry!

Moisturizers + Look Of The Day

Fourth post in my 7 days of skincare is all about moisturizers! Now that our skin is squeaky clean it is ready for some moisture. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got dry, oily or combination skin. You still need to moisturize. Just like I mentioned in my first skincare post that there are many factors responsible for our skin condition. This means it changes throughout the seasons and needs different care.

To find out what your skin type is you need to observe it. I found this simple test that you can take to determine what your skin type is. Also, do not try a few new products at once. Introduce one new product into your routine and check your skin daily for improvements/worsening. If the product doesn’t do anything then ditch it! There isn’t any other way but try something to find out if it’s working in our favour. 

So this is what my skin is like and what I use:

Winter – this year has been very mild in the UK. I don’t have any major dryness going on but I do need to use something ‘heavier’ than normal. During the night our whole body rests and so is our skin. It relaxes and does not have to face any challenges like wind or low temperature. It is time for a nice moisture boost :) For that purpose I am using Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturizer. I wake up each morning with super soft skin without that heavy, oily feeling.
For daytime I have chosen La Roche-Posay Anti-Redness Rosaliac. My face looks like I have been slapped a few times when it meets very low or very high temperatures. This moisturizer has been very good at keeping that redness at bay. It has a green tint to it which neutralizes the redness and calming effect on the skin.

Summer – that time of the year my skin becomes oily on the T zone. Last year I have been using Bioderma Anti-Shine fluid in the mornings. I found it really stops the shine coming through. Some mattifying creams can dry your skin out so look for one that also moisturizes.

I’ve also been using Aveeno Positively Radiant. It is light but gives a bit of extra moisture during the night time. It does have some shiny particles in it so I am not keen on using it at night. I am still on a look out for a good night time moisturizer for summer. It has to be something that will hydrate but is still light in texture. 

I purchased Clarins Daily Energizer Cream at the airport last year but didn’t use it yet! I will give it go in the spring time to see if it can bring that radiant, fresh glow that skin lacks in the winter.


Outfit and make-up of the day:

Today I wore skirt from Primark I posted about here. I paired it with a simple white top (a bit see thru but oh well!), nude flats and Top Shop Cardigan. I didn’t wear this Cardi for ages. It’s really chunky and it doubles up as a coat on milder days. Please ignore extra shiny tights! I promise they do not look like that in real life :D

I used eyeshadow palette from Rimmel 002 Smokey Brun I got as a gift from a lovely friend. It’s got some right up my alley toupe-y, mink-y colours. I created this look following instructions at the back using sponge applicator that came with it and angled shader brush. I wouldn’t think of doing it that way myself. I think it came out lovely. I have to say it did look neater in real life, for some reason my camera always makes it look like the shadow is all over the place.
